All Fuel Additives are NOT created equal
Both gas or diesel can attract water into fuel tanks through natural condensation, loose fitting fuel caps, or groundwater seepage into underground tanks. Water can be extremely detrimental to your vehicle: degrading fuel quicker, initiating phase separation, creating a breeding ground for bacteria, as well as causing corrosion and possibly complete and total destruction of your engine.
A quick preventative measure to remove the water from your fuel tank is to use a fuel additive. However, additives that claim to separate the water out of your fuel are divided into two different processes: emulsifiers and demulsifiers. To put it simply, an emulsifier removes the water from the fuel tank by reducing the water into smaller particles to pass it through the vehicle’s injectors or carburetors. A demulsifier will remove water by separating the water out of the fuel, dropping it to the bottom of the fuel tank and out through the vehicle’s racors, separators, or filters.
So the controversial question is: which type of fuel additive is best for your engine? Emulsifiers have been known to cause corrosion and severe damage to injectors or carburetors due to the the heat and steam passing through the nozzles despite any anti-corrosive components in a fuel additive. In addition, many emulsifiers have been known to use forms of alcohol to dissipate the water which can dry out fuel systems and corrode injection or carburetion systems. On the other hand, demulsifiers have been known to cause corrosion on the bottom of a fuel tank. However, an additive that contains anti-corrosive properties will avoid any potential corrosion from the water inside of the fuel tank. Moreover, both emulsifiers and demulsifiers aren’t necessarily effective if there is a substantial amount of water.
Upon thorough research, demulsifiers are more advantageous when it comes the the maintenance and protection of your fuel system. Fortunately, Fuel Ox was designed with a demulsifier that will prevent any of the negative effects that water can cause in a fuel tank for both gas and diesel. Fuel Ox also contains anti-corrosive properties to protect against the corrosion from water from your fuel and disperse it out through the racors, separators, or filters of a vehicle. Whether or not you use Fuel Ox, be sure to protect yourself against the adverse effects of water by using an additive that is a demulsifier.
